This design / build project for an 83-acre site purchased by Franklin Independent School District incorporated the following recreation facilities into its master plan: two sod fields for football and soccer, four softball fields and two baseball fields (all with synthetic turf infields and sod outfields), batting cages, cross-country routes and walking trails, fishing pond, spray park and playgrounds, and a scout camp site. The master plan took advantage of the site’s natural terrain and wooded portions as design opportunities. The park infrastructure includes roadways, three parking lots, walks, storm drains and swales (which send runoff into the pond), septic systems, lighting for sports fields and pedestrian walks, and irrigation. Native meadows and educational landscape displays are incorporated into the park. Other amenities include an overlook pavilion, baseball pavilion, education pavilion and pier, three concessions / restroom buildings, amphitheater and stage, entrance arches and stone wall, four pedestrian bridges, boardwalks, and custom-built site furniture.
